Weekly Message from the Principal
Our previous Principal Mr. Jim Casey favourite phrase was providing our boys with ‘a moral compass for life’. This moral compass is based on our Spiritan ethos, our delivery of an enriched curriculum and our pedagogy providing direction for our pupils. However, our leaders within the school – all 112 Sixth Formers have reached a key stage in this moral journey this week in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday the 9th of March.
This journey began when you were carried into the Church to receive your first Sacrament – Baptism. Many of you cannot remember this occasion but I can guarantee that your parents have this special memory. However, on Saturday just like your parents, sponsors and wider family members, I will be full of pride and joy to witness all 112 of you stand up to profess that this is your faith, this is what you believe because you will all be receiving the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Looking at the fruits of the Holy Spirit above you can see that every single fruit is positive and makes any situation, person or indeed experience into a reassuring, inspiring and uplifting event. I hope that this is what we try and achieve in Willow following in the footsteps of our inspirational priests – Father Gavin and Father O’Brolchain who provide all of us with the example of using the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit each day.
Finally, I remind all of the boys in Willow that you will not remember all of the facts, figures and test scores that you will receive throughout your time in school, however, you will always remember how you were treated and ultimately like Mr. Macken (with his Club Orange and Star Bar after his own Confirmation) how this made you feel.
