Rugby is an essential part of the life and ethos of Willow Park Junior School. The game's core values of respect, discipline, enjoyment and teamwork are at the heart of our school. There is a strong tradition of Rugby in Willow and the school's alumni includes a number of current and former international players, such as Luke Fitzgerald, Brian O'Driscoll, Leo Cullen, Hugo McNeill, Victor Costello and Fergus Slattery to name but a few.
Pupils begin formal rugby training in 1st Form and continue right through to 6th Form. The nature of the game demands much organisation and input by pupils, coaches and parents, from learning to tie laces to remembering to packing one’s mouthguard. Our game requires much of our boys! As parents of a rugby player, you have to play many parts: cleaner and co-ordinator of gear, taxi-driver to training/matches, nurse to minor injuries and, of course, side-line supporter.
