Willow Park Plastic Reduction Week

December 2nd – 6th

It has been estimated that Ireland will create 90,000 tonnes of waste packaging this Christmas alone. The Green Schools Committee have decided that because of the huge increase in waste and packaging occurring around Christmas, we should get December off to a good start. Therefore, the boys have decided to run a Plastic Reduction Week in school with a focus on lunch boxes in particular!

For the week beginning December 2nd , we are asking all of the boys in the school to leave the single-use plastic at home. We are encouraging everyone to use more sustainable alternatives like tissue paper, beeswax and other natural grease proof papers and reusable plastic containers. We are hoping that this week will help to remind everyone about the importance of reducing the waste we create particularly at this time of year.

We thank you in advance for your support,

The Green Schools Committee
