Healthy Eating in Willow

Willow Park is preparing a Healthy Eating Policy in an effort to promote the wellbeing of the boys.

The policy will provide a useful guide about the kind of food the boys should have in their lunch boxes. It will also lay out school rules around treats and exceptions to the general ban on treats.

Over the coming weeks, we will learn a bit more about food and our health.

1. Food is a basic requirement of life
2. It provides energy for the body so we can all learn and play
3. Eating a variety and balance of food keeps us healthy
4. A good diet helps you to perform well in sports
5. Eating well helps you to learn in the classroom
6. Fruits are a natural sweet treat and full of goodness
7. Eggs are one of the healthiest foods in the world
8. Vegetables should play a key role at most meals
9. Growing children should get about one pint of milk a day or its equivalent as cheese, yoghurt or milk pudding
10. Some foods like sugary drinks should be limited or saved for special occasions
