Willow Cricket
Cricket at Willow Park School has become very popular in recent years. The success of the national team along with Ireland's historic first test v Pakistan on Irish soil has created quite a buzz around cricket; it's no wonder Willow boys have had their heads turned by this growing sport.
Morning Cricket
Well- known international cricketer, Reinhardt Strydom keeps the boys on their feet during the winter months offering coaching before school in the Blackrock College gym. Boys work on their bowling, batting and fielding techniques.
Boys from 1-3rd Forms train on Wednesdays from 7.45am - 8.30am and 4th - 6th Formers on Thursdays from 7.45am - 8.30am. All sessions are held in the Blackrock college gym. If your son is interested in joining the winter coaching sessions please contact claremacmanus@gmail.com.
School Cricket
School cricket commences in the third term of Willow with coaching offered as a weekly alternative to football in the sporting curriculum. All boys are welcome to try out cricket and teachers will be informed of the coaching days and times.
Cricket Teams
Team trials are held early in the third term and boys will be picked to represent their school in two Leinster competitions: the SuperLeague and the 4th Class Cup. There will be squad training after school for boys who are successful in the trials.
Cricket Gear
Willow crested cricket whites are to be worn on the senior SuperLeague team and cricket white tops and blue tracksuit bottoms are to be worn on the 4th Class Cup team. All Willow crested cricket gear is available at uniformity *.
Leinster League & Cup
School matches will be posted up on the cricket notice board and boys will be notified of match dates and locations by the appointed team managers. Parents will be asked to support the team with lifts to matches and also by providing refreshments or 'cricket teas' if necessary.
As current holders of the 4th Class Cup and runners-up in the SuperLeague, we look forward to another very successful and fun cricket term at Willow Park!
