Grandparents Day in Willow Park Junior School

Friday was a special day for our third form pupils as it is Grandparents Day.

Every year, the boys celebrate their relationships with their grandparents. They learn songs that their grandparents enjoyed when they were young. They recite poetry and they prepare projects where they write about one or all of their grandparents.

Grandparents Day

It is a lovey day for the grandparents who are able to visit the school for a short time. They get to see their grandson’s classroom, teacher and classmates. The day will finish with grandparents getting an opportunity to watch their grandsons playing rugby.

Not every grandparent can come on the day. Indeed, some may sadly have died. While we missed them, they are always in our memories.

Marc (J3) and his grandparents Derry & Valerie. His grandfather Derry was the oldest Willow Park pupil in the school today & wore his tie with pride. He had joined Willow Park as a student only a few years after the school was opened. It was lovely to see him back in the school.

...and then it was out to watch their grandsons playing rugby - a great day was had by the young & old...
