Fundraising for Barpello High School Kenya

Paris Marathon, Sunday 14th April 2019

This Sunday a team of four people representing the Spiritans will take part in this year’s Paris Marathon. The team’s fundraising efforts are for Barpello High School in the drought- and famine-prone East Pokot region of Kenya which has had a Spiritan presence since 1980.

BHS opened its door to four-dozen Form I students in 2007 and without any direct government support, today it has grown to over 700 students, male and female. Many are the first generation of their families to be formally educated in a society where the backbone of the economy is now being increasingly seen as the educated child. One of the school’s objectives is to eradicate poverty and unjust practices which exist as a result of illiteracy.

The team members for this year's marathon are Ronan Barry (SET), James Keating (Rockwell College), Adam Puszczewicz (Willow/Blackrock) and Fr. Calvin Massawe (French Province).

Friday the 12th of April (End of Term) is Jersey day. The boys can wear any jersey of their choice and they donate €2.00 to charity, this terms charity is the Barpello High School project this term.
