First Holy Communion Ceremony

First Holy Communion Ceremony
First Holy Communion Ceremony

Last weekend was very special for second form boys who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday, 11th May.

Some 65 smartly dressed boys from K2, J2 and P2 walked from the school to the Church of the Assumption on Booterstown Avenue for the ceremony at 11 am.

The chief celebrant was Fr Cormac O’Brolcháin who was accompanied by Fr Gerry Kane, the Parish Priest in Booterstown Parish and Fr Denis Gavin.

It was a beautiful ceremony which was enjoyed by all of the families.

Congratulations boys and well done for supporting one another on the day!

There were many people involved in ensuring that the second form boys enjoyed their special day. So it’s important that we don’t forget our manners and say a thank you to everyone.

Thanks to the teachers – Mr Steven Halion, Ms Nola McCabe and Mr Patrick Nolan – and chaplain Mr Puszczewicz-Cuddihy for preparing the boys and ensuring the day went off without a hitch.

Willow boys
Thank you to the fifth form boys Gearoid, John, Jamie and Alex who were the altar boys for the ceremony. It was an important day for them as each had a brother celebrating their communion. Thanks also to the third form boys who sang and teachers Aine O’Donoghue, Jane DeValera and Music Teacher Mairéad Lochrie.

Parent volunteers
The First Holy Communicants and their families returned to the school for a reception which was expertly organised by First Form Class Representatives: Gail, Lynda, Sara and Tushina.

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers on the day who poured tea and coffee or made the sandwiches and cakes. It was all delicious!

Thanks also to Willow Park parent, Gwen Carroll, for her efforts to ensure the boys were ready for this important experience.

The work of the Accommodation and Maintenance staff was much appreciated. The school was spanking clean inside and out!

A special thanks to Fr Gavin for attending and making what was already a special day, extra, EXTRA special!
