End of Year Message from the Principal

End of Year Message from the Principal

I have often been accused of not appreciating the importance of nostalgia and reminiscing of times gone by. I have always been very much focused on what lies ahead and the next challenge or occasion on the horizon. However, since the birth of my child in September I have found myself starting to flick through old photos and watch the different stages my son has gone through already in his short life. Time is precious so I now fully understand the importance of chronicling the good times and the landmark events in a child’s life and taking time to look back and reminisce.

So, it was with this new and improved mind frame that I sat down and started to read through the Willow weekly newsletters that have been produced this year. Every event was captured and every activity chronicled. The school year has flown by and with so many school events there is a danger we forget something. But as I scrolled through the weekly editions I was reminded of everything that was achieved this year and I was so proud of what I read and proud to be associated with this school.

And the overarching link between every edition and every activity is the Willow Park community coming together. The Father Gavin rugby festival, the phenomenal production of The Greatest Toy musical, STEM week, French Day, Book week, Willow International Day and many, many more. The numerous charity initiatives from the Fun Run in aid of Focus Ireland to the Crumlin Children’s Hospital appeal, Willow Wheelers, Saint Vincent DePaul, Children helping Children Appeal and culminating in the Pat in the Back World Record attempt. All have highlighted the strong home-school links that exist in the school and most importantly all have been chronicled in the weekly newsletter.

So I think it is only right that we pay a special thank you to the parents who have worked tirelessly and magnanimously to produce this newsletter. A tremendous amount of work is done to ensure this production is completed on time, to a standard and represents all of the varied tapestry of life in Willow Park.

We must, therefore, thank Ms. Caroline Lynch, Ms. Tricia Finnegan, Ms. Claudette Burke, Ms. Allison Cruz for their efforts throughout the year. Your work is hugely appreciated by everybody in the Willow Park community.

Finally, we would like to wish all Willow families a happy, sunshine-filled Summer and we hope to see you back refreshed and raring to go in August.

Many thanks and take care

Cormac McAleer - Deputy Principal
