The Willow Park Junior School Annual Christmas Fun Run took place on the Basketball courts yesterday afternoon. It was a glorious dry and crisp afternoon, making for perfect running conditions for all the Junior School boys.
Each class was called up for the race at staggered times throughout the afternoon. The schedule gave plenty of time for the run and participating in festive activities before and after the class runs. 1.30pm - 3rd & 4th Forms; 1.50pm - 1st & 2nd Forms; 2.20pm - Junior and Senior Infants; 2.50pm - 5th Form; 3.10pm - 6th Form.
There was a great festive atmosphere in the school with Christmas music playing, very generous sized Chocolate Reindeers being given out by the 6th form boys to their peers, and plenty of parents in attendance chatting and cheering on their sons.
The 6th formers were fantastic at organising the race and collecting funds for Focus Ireland. They were also guiding and interacting with all the younger boys especially the Junior and Senior Infants around the course, picking up and encouraging the boys that had a little fall. Memories the younger boys will treasure.
The 6th Form teachers Mr. Macken (the Dean), Ms. Ward, Ms. Murphy and Mr. Ó Connachtáin joined in the fun while making sure the event ran smoothly.
Amongst the festive cheer, the 6th form boys were collecting vital funds for the Charity Focus Ireland and reminding us that each euro went towards helping another family at Christmas time.
