FR. GAVIN GOLF TROPHY 2017
Fr. Gavin started the tradition of holding a golf tournament for 5th & 6th form boys over 35 years ago. The event has grown phenomenally over that period with now approximately 80 participants each year. This year was no exception and the boys had a fabulous afternoon of golf in Leopardstown on Friday last , the 29th of September, while also raising €500 for St. Vincent DePaul. The cheque was presented to Fr.Gavin by Don Mulcair of 6th form at the prize presentation.
The overall winner on the day of the Fr.Gavin Trophy was Brian Walsh from 5th form in a very close battle with Runner-Up Macdara Cosgrave from 6th. Macdara was also awarded with the prize for longest drive on the 9th hole. To see a full list of the winners in each year group please refer to the school website.
Sincere congratulations to all of the boys and also to the parents who kindly gave up their afternoon to supervise.
Fr. Gavin celebrated his birthday in the days coming up to the event so the boys took the opportunity to present him with a birthday cake and followed it with a chorus of Happy Birthday at the school assembly and prizegiving on Wednesday the 4th of October. Well done to all.
